Rent payment methods
We like to make paying your rent as convenient as possible and offer the following payment methods:
Direct Debit
This is our preferred and most convenient method of payment, especially if you are ill or unable to leave your home, as the payment will still be made automatically. When your rent changes, we automatically adjust your payments. You can also have an agreement to repay rent arrears by Direct Debit. You are covered by the bank’s Direct Debit Guarantee. Download a Direct Debit Form. We now offer “any day” Direct Debits where you can choose the day of the month which is most suitable to you (for example just after you receive your pay or benefits). Please telephone us on 0345 850 9994 and ask to speak to your Revenues Officer if you would like to set up an “any day” Direct Debit. These can be set up over the phone.
Standing Order
An instruction to your bank to make payments either weekly, fortnightly or monthly on a date to suit you. Download a Standing Order Form.
Online
You can make a payment online through the Allpay website. You will need to sign up for the service before you can make a payment, but there is a link to the sign up form on the payments page.
In cash
At any Post Office or shop displaying a PayPoint sign. You will need to have your payment card with you. Please do not send cash to us through the post.
By sending a cheque
Please make cheques payable to Luminus Homes or, if you live in sheltered accommodation, to Oak Foundation. Please write your name and rent account number on the back. Please do not send cash through the post.
By phone
To pay by debit card, call us on 0345 266 9760 (calls charged a local rate). You will need your rent account number and debit card to hand. You can also pay by debit card at any time out of office hours, by calling Freephone 0800 310 0000.

Paying your rent should ALWAYS be your No.1 priority.
We have a ‘firm but fair’ approach to debt. If you miss a payment, you don’t always have to pay all of your debt off at once. We can work out a repayment plan that you can afford. However, if you don’t pay your rent or reduce your debt, you risk losing your home.
To help maximise your income, contact our Income & Benefits Advisor on 01480 428521. Please speak to us first before using a debt management company as their fees can be high and we may be able give you the help that you need for free.
REMEMBER: You need to get in touch immediately! The longer you leave it, the worse your debt situation becomes. If we don’t know that there’s a problem, we can’t help you.

If you receive housing benefit now, in future it will be paid directly to you, as part of your Universal Credit. You will need a bank account to receive Universal Credit.
MoneySupermarket.com is one website where you can find out about basic bank accounts. These are designed to offer the simple features of a current account to people who may not have used a bank in the past, or who have poor credit scores.
Once Universal Credit is in place it will be your responsibility to manage your money and pay your rent to us on time.
If you go into arrears you risk losing your home. To help you keep on top of your rent payments we want to make it as easy as possible to pay. Please look at the payment methods listed above to find the best option for you.
If you’re not sure whether or not this will apply to you, please contact us on 01480 428330. Find out more about Universal Credit here.
