Team Luminus goes the extra mile for Insane Terrain
Team Luminus joined thousands of runners to take part in a gruelling, challenging and muddy run on Sunday 25 September for Insane Terrain as part of its unique approach to Health and Wholeness.
16 employees completed the 5 and 10k course around Washbrook Farm, Doddington, overcoming a variety of obstacles including clambering over walls and hay bales, scrambling through tunnels, crawling through mud, and surviving the foam cannon.
The event partnered with Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT), a charity dedicated to making a difference for patients at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals, which is also celebrating its 250th anniversary this year. All money raised from the event will go towards cutting edge technology, additional specialist services, vital research and extra comforts for patients that make all the difference over and above what would be possible through NHS funding alone.
It was the second time the team had taken part in the run, which was not only a physical challenge for participants, but an excellent team building activity.
Since introducing Luminus’ Health and Wholeness initiative, employees have transformed their lives to improve their own fitness and overall wellbeing, and to inspire others to do the same. As a result we have seen a positive effect not just on the business but also on public services such as the NHS, through a reduction in sickness absence and an improvement in productivity and morale throughout the company.
Dr Chan Abraham, Luminus Group Chief Executive, said:
“I’m very proud of all our employees who took part in the challenge. Their commitment and perseverance was evident on the day. Their efforts exemplify the outworking of our 2020 Vision, where we first begin by changing ourselves for the better, which then leads to positive transformation in the world around us. I would encourage other companies to follow our lead to make a difference to their team members and join Luminus in making progress along The Road to Renewal.”
