Employees at Luminus, the eastern region’s most inspirational employer, enjoyed an action packed day at their fourth Health & Wholeness event.

The annual event brings together employees to encourage them to find out more about how they can improve their health and wellbeing. Joining them at the event was the new Mayor of Huntingdon, Councillor Jay Dyne who experienced the unique way Luminus, a major employer in Huntingdon, invests in the health and wellbeing of its employees.

Commenting on the event, The Mayor of Huntingdon, Councillor Jay Dyne said:

"I was very impressed in the way Luminus looks after its staff, and it was evident that this results in productive employees. Luminus is a lovely company that feels like a family. The staff are friendly and polite and genuinely care that about residents living in Luminus homes.”

The Health & Wholeness event took place at Luminus’ Brook House headquarters, with an array of exhibitors offering everything from free health checks to discounted gym membership, from seated massage to legal advice. Guests included: Westfield Health, Slimming World, Ewing Associates, Huntingdonshire Volunteer Centre, The One Scheme, Time to Unwind, Corazon, The Bridge Counselling Service, Everyone Health, Boots, The Sports Injury Clinic, The Psychological Wellbeing Service, Adlams LLP and Colours with Confidence.

Throughout the day employees threw themselves into a Team Challenge, cycling a total of 130km. The second challenge involved a Airdyne bike and wall-sit competition. To spur on their colleagues, employees generously donated to Macmillan Cancer Support and Huntingdon Community Cancer Network, Luminus’ charities of the year.

The day was a great success and feedback from staff was overwhelmingly positive, with many employees learning something new and feeling motivated to make healthy lifestyle changes.

Dr Chan Abraham, Luminus Group Chief Executive said:

“In 2017, our Year of New Beginnings, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of all our employees. Our innovative approach to health and wellbeing has an overwhelmingly positive effect not just on the business, but also on public services such as the NHS, through a reduction in sickness and an improvement in productivity and morale throughout the company. I encourage others to follow our lead and join Luminus as we make progress along The Road to Renewal, changing the world where we are.”
